Is there a phone number that I can call to get a payphone at our business?
What city and town are you located in?
Great idea to have a BLOG for our industry. Thank you NCIC!
Looking for someone to service payphones in the D.C, Virginia area.
If you can email your contact info to info@payphonenetwork.com we will forward your info to a company in the DC area that services pay phones.
info@payphonenetwork.com is an undeliverable address please confirm
Hmmm, usually those requests go to info@payphoneprovider.com. On Monday, we will make info@payphonenetwork.com available. Thank you for your comments at The Pay Phone Blog!
Where can I go to buy an old payphone?

Hi, my neighbor just recieved a couple of disturbing phone calls from three differnet pay phones. The caller ID gives the number of the phone and states that it is indeed a pay phone.
My question is, is there an easy way to find out where a pay phone is located once you possess its phone number?
Thanks.
Here is a question for discussion;
Where do you see the pay phone industry in 10 years?
Operator Services
Inmate Phone Service
Collect Call
Regarding the post at 3:36pm on 2/2/7, there really is no way for the public to get phone numbers. You can send an email to info@payphonenetwork.com with the payphone number to see if they can find the number from their network of payphone providers.
When you say "get phone number" do you mean get phone location? The Caller ID gives the actual payphone number. We would llke to have a place to call that would tell us the location of the payphone based on its phone number.
Using the three digit prefix we knew what suburbs the calls came from and we determined the street the calls took place on and my wife drove around and actually found one of the phones. But most of them have the phone number removed so you can't tell unless you call from payphone to a party with caller ID.
It's probably not that important anymore. But if the calls continue, we were hoping to be able to pinpoint the person's location as well as their direction of travel because they were making mutiple calls on different phones over the course of an hour or so.
Is there a State payphone association in Idaho, Wyoming, Utah or Nebraska. What would a contact number be?
Here is a list of all the pay phone associations:

Collect Call
Please call the company that charged you for the service. They should be obligated to give you a credit or full refund. If they don't then call your credit card company and they will give you a credit.
How and by whom are the charges for a coin operated private pay phones regulated? Are there maximum prices that can be charged? Does this vary with operator assisted or non live operator assisted collect calls? Who can be contacted regarding these questions if you do not have this information?I was charged $16.76 for the 1st minute on a call from Anaheim to Lakewood..a 20 min drive..then 1.99 for each add'l minute! $28.56 for a 6 minute (emergency) call!! That is despicable!
Try sending an email to their management at info@ncic.com Refer it to their president and see if that gets anyones attention.
I am communicating with a guy regarding the purchase of his payphone service route. It is located in Idaho and he want $50,000 for it. I am getting his tax forms for the past 5 years and will take them to his acct. My question is, should anyone care to take this on, Is this a viable business and would anyone care to answer more questions regarding the value of a phone service/management route?
Thanks,
Buying a payphone route can be tricky. The revenues have historically been in a decline for about the past 12 years, but have stabilized more recently. I would suggest you do the due diligence on the acquistion and maybe do some geographical research on the phones, such as will there be growth in the area, is there much competition in the area and are the phones located in high traffic areas.
There is also some speculation that you may be able to receive some public funds for subsidization of the phones in low-income areas, schools, libraries and public access for emergencies. You may want to contact the Public Utilities commission to see if a program exists in Idaho for subsidization of payphones.
You may want to contact the American Public Communications Council (APCC.net) to get further information about the industry.
i was charged $30 for a 6 minute pay phone call...THIS IS RIDICULOUS...the call was made within a 15 mile range...this is just absurd! who can i contact??
Did you try calling the 800 number on the phone bill? If that didn't work, try sending an email to the company that billed you for the call.
Nice blog, keep it up!
Steve
How do I find out the location of a pay phone that I keep getting collect phone calls from?
It's not easy to find the location of a payphone that is calling due to privacy reasons. You may be able to contact AT&T and indicate you are receiving harassing phone calls from that line to see if they can identify it's location.
I made a local call on a payphone for one minute and they charged my credit card $7.78. That is ridiculous! What happen to the $.25 payphone calls?
Wonderful blog.
Is there any product on the market that can protect a user from contact with germs when using a unprotected public payphone. Who knows who used that phone before you.
I collect old UK payphones. In England modern payphones are hard to find, everyone uses mobiles :-(
The pay phone should have a posting
on the pay phone for the company provider name address and contact number that is clearly visible. Also the long distance provider and branding when making a 0 type call.
In must announce through the handset the operator service provider branding like CI,Qwest, and AT&T. And the prompt to enter a number or #,* for a rate quote before processing the call.
If this was not provided at the pay phone then a complaint could possibly be considered by your state PSC or FCC in writing
The billing agency or clearing house billing on behalf of the operator service carrier should be on your bill. You should call that number and speak to a customer service rep and enter a complaint and see if you can get some relief
But unless you know all the questions to ask this will not get far. The company that charges you has to file a tariff for charges
billed to you and the procedures
with the FCC.You can call your local provider who provides your
service if this was billed through
your LEC and dispute the charges
on that portion of your bill and
ask if they can help with any contact with the billing agent or carrier in resolving the dispute.
a
they need to get pay phones everywhere because of gas prices. or there will be crazy upset people everywhere and then violence and crime will escalate , with people out of work , there won't be taxes paid to states to keep people in jail . It will be too expensive! what do you think?
There is a company named Gyntel Services offering a route driver job collecting from payphones. They want a deposit of $259 to start the job- saying they'll refund it on the first check. Does anybody know if this is a scam or legit??
Don't use this company!!! They overcharge customers and are very misleading!
I want to get a payphone at my business location in texas. Who should I contact?
How much do you think the payphone provider spends each month to keep a payphone working so YOU have the convenience of using your credit card when you forget to carry change? In round numbers a lot! And the bad debt on non-coin calls means you pay more. Your congressman will probably tell you to tape 2 quarters to the inside of your wallet. NCIC provided you a service that you wanted, when you demanded it. And within the regulations of the FCC.
I am trying to add some money to the account and was referred to www.correctionalbilling.com and when I go to the website I cannot locate where I go to add money (via my credit card) to the account. I have been holding for 20 minutes now and still have not spoke to an operator. Any help?
You went to the wrong website. Try: https://www.correctionalbillingservices.com/
feeble attempt guys...
